Position Accountabilities:

  • Establish and promote best practices for scalable, reliable, and secure data engineering solutions.
  • Mentor team members to enhance their skills and support continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and develop innovative solutions.
  • Develop and enforce rigorous data engineering standards and practices.
  • Promote an inclusive team atmosphere that values diverse perspectives and drives innovation.
  • Define and execute data engineering projects aligned with business objectives.
  • Advocate for high standards of data privacy and ethical practices.

 

About You

You are an experienced Data Engineer with a passion for innovation and excellence. You have a strong background in data engineering tools and practices, and you thrive in a collaborative, dynamic environment. Your ability to mentor and guide others is matched by your skill in managing complex data systems and pipelines.

 

Essential Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification or relevant experience in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in software development within an Agile environment, utilising DevOps and DataOps tools.
  • Expertise in cloud data solutions (AWS, Snowflake, or equivalent) and production experience with tools like DBT and AWS Glue or equivalent.
  • Strong data modelling skills and experience with enterprise data warehousing.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritise a complex workload and coach team members effectively.
  • Experience with data warehouse modelling techniques, such as Kimball or Data Vault

 

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience with NoSQL and SQL databases.
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies such as Amazon ECS.
  • Involvement in data science projects.
