As the Head of Financial Accounting, you play a key role in overseeing financial operations at HBF through people leadership and building relationships that positively impact stakeholders through the proactive delivery of a high-quality service.

Reporting directly to the General Manager Group Finance, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, managing internal financial controls, analysing financial data, and providing accounting advice to the organisation. This position requires strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to drive process improvements.

You will ensure a strong control environment is maintained across financial operations and take the lead on finance-related projects, driving innovation and service excellence.


What you’ll do

Leading People for Performance: Set the tone for the team by modelling HBF’s core values while fostering a performance-driven culture through ongoing feedback, coaching, and recognition in line with team goals.

Financial Management: Provide proactive reporting and analysis to key stakeholders while managing transactional banking relationships with external partners.

Financial Accounting and Reporting: Lead the year-end financial statement process to meet statutory obligations ensuring compliance with regulatory standards (PHIAC, ASIC) and manage tax-related returns (income tax, GST, FBT).


About you

You hold a professional qualification in accounting and have deep knowledge of accounting principles and statutory reporting combined with strong attention to detail, and the ability to drive process improvements.

Your previous experience in financial services industry or high-volume financial transaction environment as well as knowledge of Income Tax, GST, Payroll Tax, and FBT legislation and governance and compliance requirements would be advantageous in this role.

You’re well-versed in risk management and internal controls, ensuring systems integrity and compliance with regulations and use your knowledge to confidently present complex financial information clearly to stakeholders.

You bring well developed leadership skills and experience managing and developing teams and creating an environment of positive mentorship and coaching to your team, helping them grow professionally.
