About the Role  
As an Assistant Accountant at HBF, you will play a key role in supporting the Finance Operations team to ensure accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Your work will contribute to HBF’s financial integrity and help deliver value to members through sound financial governance and operational excellence.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and maintaining reconciliations and reports for balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Performing financial accounting tasks including journal entries and month-end/year-end reporting.
  • Supporting internal and external audits by providing timely and accurate documentation.
  • Collaborating with Finance Systems and other teams to support system enhancements and data integrity improvements.
  • Participating in projects to streamline reporting processes and improve efficiency.
  • Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support service delivery and financial operations.

About You 
You’re a detail-oriented and proactive accounting professional with a strong foundation in financial principles and a passion for delivering accurate and timely reporting. You thrive in collaborative environments, enjoy solving problems, and are committed to continuous improvement. Your ability to work independently and communicate effectively makes you a valuable contributor to HBF’s finance operations.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in an accounting-based discipline, with strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across teams.
  • Exposure to high-volume financial transactions or experience in the financial services sector (desirable).
  • Currently undertaking or planning to undertake CA or CPA qualification (highly regarded).
