About the Role
As a Software Engineering Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping HBF’s digital member platforms. You’ll lead a team of talented engineers to design and deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing applications that enhance member experiences. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight, fostering innovation and engineering excellence across the organisation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading, mentoring, and supporting a team of software engineers to achieve technical and business outcomes.
- Overseeing the design, development, and deployment of applications using modern frameworks and cloud technologies (Next.js, Expo, .NET, AWS).
- Championing best practices in software engineering, including CI/CD, automated testing, and clean architecture.
- Collaborating with Product, Design, and Architecture teams to define technical direction and delivery priorities.
- Promoting a culture of learning, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within engineering teams.
- Ensuring adherence to security, compliance, and engineering principles such as SOLID, DRY, KISS, and YAGNI.
About You
You’re an experienced engineering leader who thrives on solving complex problems and inspiring teams to deliver exceptional digital experiences. You combine strong technical expertise with a collaborative mindset, ensuring solutions are innovative, secure, and aligned with business goals.
Ideally, you will have:
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience leading and mentoring software engineering teams in an agile environment.
- Deep understanding of modern software engineering principles (SOLID, DRY, KISS, YAGNI) and best practices.
- Hands-on expertise with cloud-native application development and technologies such as React, Next.js, Expo, .NET, AWS.
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
- Excellent stakeholder management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
This position is based in Perth, WA on a permanent full-time basis.
