About the Role
As the Financial Accounting Manager, you will lead HBF’s financial accounting function, ensuring the integrity, accuracy and compliance of financial reporting across the Group. This role plays a key part in maintaining a strong financial control environment, delivering high‑quality statutory and regulatory reporting, and guiding a high‑performing team through ongoing transformation and improvement initiatives.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Leading and mentoring the Financial Accounting team to deliver timely and accurate month‑end and year‑end activities.
- Ensuring the integrity of the general ledger and consistent application of accounting policies and key judgements.
- Overseeing period‑end adjustments, technical accounting considerations, and preparation of high‑quality internal and external reporting.
- Managing the preparation of annual financial statements and supporting external audit activities.
- Strengthening financial controls, ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance requirements, and overseeing APRA reporting.
- Prepare technical accounting position papers for Audit Committee review, clearly outlining key judgements and conclusions.
- Lead the implementation of the statutory reporting tool to support the preparation of the Annual Report.
- Driving process improvement, system enhancements, and implementation of statutory reporting tools.
This position is based in Perth on a permanent full-time basis.
About You
You’re an experienced and technically strong accounting professional who brings deep knowledge of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and financial controls within complex organisations. You are an approachable and effective leader who enjoys coaching others, improving processes, and partnering with stakeholders to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
Ideally, you will have:
- A recognised professional accounting qualification (CA or CPA).
- At least 7 years’ post‑qualification experience within medium to large, complex environments.
- Public practice audit experience, particularly with insurance clients, is advantageous.
- Demonstrated expertise in preparing financial statements and managing external audits.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, accounting standards, the Corporations Act, and governance frameworks.
- Proven capability in financial controls, including balance sheet integrity, reconciliations, and data accuracy assurance.
- Advanced Excel skills and hands‑on experience with ERP and accounting systems.
- Experience supporting or implementing statutory reporting software used for annual financial reporting (highly desirable).
