At HBF, people are at the heart of everything we do. As a Senior HR Advisor, you’ll play a key role in shaping the experience our people have at work and supporting leaders to build high performing, values led teams.
You’ll be a trusted partner to leaders across the business providing practical, balanced and risk-aware advice on a broad range of HR and employee relations matters. From performance and conduct conversations through to workplace investigations and organisational changes, you’ll help leaders navigate complex situations with confidence while ensuring fair, consistent and compliant outcomes.
You’ll also contribute to strengthening HR capability across the organisation mentoring advisors, refining policies and processes and supporting projects that improve how we deliver people services across HBF.
About the role In this role, you’ll work across a diverse range of people matters and partner closely with leaders to support positive workplace outcomes. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing end-to-end advice and support on complex HR and ER/IR matters, including workplace investigations, performance management, organisational change and employee conduct matters
Coaching and supporting leaders to navigate challenging people situations and build confident, capable leadership practices
Managing sensitive or high-risk cases with sound judgement, strong documentation and a clear focus on risk mitigation
Interpreting and applying relevant legislation, the Enterprise Agreement and HR policies to ensure consistent and compliant outcomes
Acting as a mentor and escalation point for HR Advisors, sharing expertise and supporting capability development across the team
Building trusted relationships with stakeholders while delivering a consistent and high-quality HR advisory service
Contributing to HR projects, policy reviews and continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen our people practices and ways of working

About you You’re an experienced HR professional who brings a balanced approach to people matters combining empathy and fairness with sound judgement and practical solutions. Leaders trust you to step into complex or sensitive situations and provide clear guidance that helps move things forward. You’re comfortable having conversations that aren’t always easy and your ability to listen, build relationships and influence stakeholders enables you to achieve positive outcomes for both people and the organisation. You will also bring:
At least five years’ experience in a broad HR generalist or advisory role
Strong employee relations and industrial relations capability
Experience managing workplace investigations, complex performance matters and other sensitive employee issues
A solid understanding of the Fair Work Act, enterprise agreements and contemporary HR practices
The ability to coach and influence leaders across a range of people management scenarios
Strong judgement, professionalism and discretion when dealing with confidential or high-risk matters
