About the Role  
As a Senior Emerging Technology Developer, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation, designing and delivering cutting-edge technology solutions that enhance member experiences and support HBF’s vision to create a healthier tomorrow. Working closely with the Head of Emerging Technologies and cross-functional teams, you’ll transform strategic ideas into practical, scalable solutions that leverage AI, cloud platforms, and modern development practices.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, testing, and deploying innovative technology solutions aligned with HBF’s strategic vision.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver projects that improve member outcomes and experiences.
  • Identifying and prioritising AI and digital health use cases to drive innovation.
  • Leading experimentation efforts to convert visionary concepts into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Ensuring compliance with HBF’s policies, including AI ethics and data privacy standards.
  • Mentoring junior developers and foster a culture of creativity, experimentation, and continuous learning.

This position is based in Perth on a permanent, full-time basis.

About You 
You’re a passionate and experienced developer who thrives on innovation and enjoys exploring emerging technologies to create real-world impact. With strong technical expertise and a collaborative mindset, you can turn complex ideas into practical solutions that improve member experiences and health outcomes.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Extensive software development experience, ideally in healthcare, insurance, or technology sectors.
  • Advanced skills in Python or .NET, solid knowledge data structures, software architecture design patterns and building API integrations with Cloud/SaaS platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and AI technologies (LLMs, Generative/Agentic AI).
  • Strong understanding of agile methodologies and ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven track record of delivering solutions and collaborating effectively in cross-functional teams.
