Are you passionate about product performance, strategic analysis, and data driven decision-making? As the Product Strategy Manager, you will play a crucial role in developing reporting and insights, designing new products, and making strategic and tactical recommendations to optimise the performance of HBF’s product portfolio.
Reporting to the Senior Manager Product Strategy & Performance, you will simplify complex data to create actionable insights and identify opportunities for improvement to ensure that the portfolio performs in line with our pricing strategy, risk appetite, and key business metrics.
Working within the Products team, you’ll collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities and develop persuasive recommendations for change that will drive business value.
About the role
- Manage day-to-day product performance reporting to ensure products perform in line with key business metrics and strategic objectives
- Identify and deliver on opportunities to enhance existing or develop new reporting to improve monitoring of product performance
- Prepare materials for the Product & Pricing Committee, including regular reports and analysis based on identified trends
- Monitor, analyse, and report on competitor activities to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
- Investigate drivers of poor performance and make strategic and tactical recommendations to improve portfolio performance
- Develop business cases to support the improvement of product metrics in line with the product strategy
- Present recommendations to senior business stakeholders to gain endorsement for new initiatives
About you
- Financial background with tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (e.g., Finance, Actuarial Science, Data Analytics, Business, Commerce)
- Minimum 3 years portfolio management experience or similar in a highly regulated environment such as Insurance or Financial Services
- Strong commercial acumen and proven experience in writing and presenting business cases
- Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to analyse trends and business impacts
- Familiarity with data extraction, manipulation, and analysis using tools such as Snowflake, Excel, Power BI, and Tableau (SQL experience desirable)
- High level of interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, particularly in business writing and presentations
- Proven ability to influence decisions at a mid to senior level
- Proven ability to meet deadlines, coordinate several tasks simultaneously, and prioritise workload
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, including a high level of motivation and proactive work ethic
