As we continue modernising our systems, strengthening our cyber posture, and embedding operational resilience across the organisation, we’re searching for an experienced, forward‑thinking leader to guide our Technology Risk & Operational Resilience function through its next phase of uplift and maturity.

What you will do 
Reporting to the General Manager, Risk and sitting within the Governance & Risk Division, the Head of Technology and Operational Resilience will lead a team of risk professionals and work closely with other specialist risk teams to continue to uplift HBF’s technology and operational resilience and risk maturity and drive continuous improvement across the Three Lines of Accountability. You will also; 

Lead HBF’s Technology & Operational Resilience Oversight: You will provide independent Line 2 challenge and guidance across technology risk, cyber risk, and operational resilience frameworks, in alignment with APRA Prudential Standards including CPS 220, CPS 230 and CPS 234 while strengthening how technology and operational resilience risks are identified, assessed and managed across the organisation. 

Uplift HBF’s Operational Resilience: Conduct independent assessments of technology and operational resilience maturity, testing the adequacy of resilience investments, remediation plans and resource allocation, and driving ongoing uplift in practices, behaviour and risk culture. 
Oversee Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Assurance: Review Critical Operations and Important Business Services, challenge BCPs and DR strategies, assess impact tolerances, evaluate RTO/RPO adequacy, and  testing programs. 

Advance Technology Resilience & Security: Lead the independent oversight of technology risk, cloud resilience strategies, data centre dependencies, tech vendor concentration, and information security controls, including CPS 234 compliance, vulnerability remediation and incident response preparedness. 

Develop & Lead a High‑Performing Risk Team: Lead a small team of technology and operational resilience specialists while evolving the operating model, setting clear expectations, uplifting capability, and embedding a culture of influence, strategic clarity and resilience excellence. 
 

About You 
You’re an experienced leader who thrives at the intersection of technology, risk and resilience, the kind of leader who can see the big picture but isn’t afraid to dive into the detail when it matters. 
 
You understand how complex technology environments work, how cyber threats evolve, and how operational disruptions can ripple across an organisation, and you’re motivated by building capabilities that keep people, systems and services protected. 

You communicate with clarity and confidence, whether you’re engaging with technology leaders, working with risk and compliance teams, or presenting insights at executive or Board‑level committees, you bring a calm, credible presence that helps others understand risks in a practical, actionable way. You also bring 

  • Strong understanding of CPS 230, CPS 234 and CPS 220 

  • Knowledge of NIST, ISO 22301/27001 and broader resilience frameworks 

  • Technical understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, cloud environments and vendor risk 

  • Executive presence with confidence in Board and Committee‑level discussions 

  • Analytical strength, attention to detail and a strategic approach to ambiguity
