HBF is evolving, growing nationally, strengthening our governance capability, and building modern, forward looking assurance environment that protects our members today and prepares us for tomorrow.

As the Head of Integrated Assurance, you will lead our enterprise assurance agenda, uplift assurance quality, and ensure integrated assurance activities keep pace with the organisation’s evolving risk profile. Reporting directly to the Chief Risk Officer, this senior leadership role oversees HBF’s Internal Audit Plan and its delivery through our Internal Audit Material Service Provider (MSP).

You’ll bring together governance, risk and assurance disciplines, ensuring findings are addressed effectively, drive continuous improvement of audit methodologies, and strengthen our ability to identify emerging risks.

What you'll lead
Internal audit program delivery
You’ll oversee the HBF Integrated Assurance program, ensuring every engagement is delivered on time, on budget and to the quality standards expected of a modern assurance function. You’ll monitor progress, identify risks early, and provide clear reporting to senior leaders.

Remediation governance
You’ll ensure audit findings lead to real, sustainable improvements including tracking and monitoring remediation, verifying root‑cause fixes, and ensuring stakeholders remain accountable.

Continuous improvement of audit & assurance
You will drive the evolution of our audit methodology in partnership with the MSP, building leading practices, new tools, benchmarking insights and innovations. You’ll ensure our assurance approach keeps pace with regulatory expectations, stakeholder feedback and emerging risks.

Enterprise level stakeholder engagement
You’ll build strong relationships across executive leadership, working with Line 2, compliance teams, risk leaders and business units to ensure audit priorities are aligned to organisational risk.

About You
You’re a seasoned assurance leader with extensive experience in internal audit, governance or risk management, ideally with exposure to managing MSP‑delivered audit programs. You bring strong executive presence and the ability to influence at senior levels.

You understand the standards and frameworks that shape best practice assurance including IIA standards, COSO, ISO and enterprise risk frameworks and you know how to integrate these into practical, value‑adding audit strategies.

You are analytical, structured and able to communicate complex matters clearly, ensuring stakeholders understand the implications and pathways forward.

You’re also someone who sees assurance as more than compliance, you view it as a strategic lever for organisational improvement. You bring strong collaboration skills, a forward view on emerging risks, and the capability to modernise assurance through technology, data driven auditing and continuous improvement.
