About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance Enablement, you will play a pivotal role in managing HBF’s tax function, ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely and reliable tax advice and compliance outcomes. Partnering closely with Finance, the Executive and external advisors, you will provide strategic tax guidance that supports business growth while strengthening tax governance, risk management and organisational tax awareness.
In this role, you will:
- Provide detailed technical analysis and strategic tax insights to commercial stakeholders and the Executive, taking ownership of tax positions adopted, and supporting investment decisions and business growth initiatives
- Oversee end‑to‑end tax compliance across direct and indirect taxes, ensuring accurate and timely lodgements
- Develop, implement and continuously improve tax policies, processes and the Tax Risk Management Framework, including collating and maintaining evidence to demonstrate their effective application and ongoing operation.
- Act as the primary point of contact with regulators, tax authorities and external advisors, with end‑to‑end accountability for external advisor engagement management.
- Drive an organisation wide tax aware culture through practical guidance, tools and knowledge sharing
- Demonstrate capability development and people leadership ability
This position is open to candidates based in Perth on a permanent full-time or part-time (0.8 FTE) basis.
About You
You are a commercially minded tax professional with strong technical expertise and a pragmatic approach to applying tax advice in a complex corporate environment. Comfortable operating at both strategic and operational levels, you bring confidence, influence and collaboration to your work.
Ideally, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification with experience in medium to large organisations
- Completed CA or CTA qualification
- Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of direct and indirect taxes in a corporate setting
- Demonstrated experience providing strategic tax advice to senior leaders and executives
- Proven ability to manage tax compliance, including working effectively with external advisors and regulators
- Well‑developed stakeholder engagement, communication and relationship‑building skills
- A proactive, analytical mindset with a track record of process improvement and practical problem solving
