As an Automation Test Engineer at HBF you’ll design and run automated tests across the delivery lifecycle, helping us uncover issues early, improve performance, and deliver real value to the business and our members.  
 
You’ll work closely with engineers, product and business stakeholders to make sure our solutions are reliable, scalable and fit for purpose. 

This role is offered as an 8‑month fixed-term contract, based in Perth. 


What you’ll be doing day to day 

  • Designing, building and maintaining automated test suites using C#, .NET and SpecFlow (BDD) 

  • Making sure test coverage aligns with business requirements and real-world scenarios 

  • Working closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure quality is baked in from the start 

  • Reviewing automation code and sharing best practice across the team 

  • Helping evolve our automation frameworks, tools and testing strategies 

  • Keeping an eye on industry trends and bringing fresh ideas to improve how we test 

  • Analysing and reporting on test results, risks and quality outcomes 

  • Building strong relationships and supporting the team to deliver high‑quality outcomes 

  

About you 
You’re an experienced Automation Tester who enjoys working as part of an agile team, sharing knowledge and continuously improving how things are done. 

You’ll bring: 

  • Proven experience in automation testing using modern QA practices 

  • Hands‑on experience with tools like JetBrains Rider or Visual Studio, Postman or ReadyAPI, and BitBucket (GIT) 

  • Exposure to monitoring tools such as Splunk and CloudWatch 

  • Experience with MobileApp Automation Testing and using cloud providers such as BrowserStack 

  • Experience with leveraging API's from code 

  • Strong communication skills and a knack for writing clear, useful documentation 

  • Familiarity with collaboration tools like Jira, Confluence, Microsoft Teams and Slack
